    Stan's Flow 29er vs Flow EX 29er

    I just ordered a set of Stan's Flow 29er rims for a build. The site I ordered from stated they were the EX models. They arrived and are not EX, rather the original Flows. I got them with a discount code and they cost $35 per rim. I am torn between returning them to get the EX or just keeping them. I weight 200 lbs and am very hard on wheels. These would go on a Scalpel 29er 3. I plan to run them tubeless, with regular old tires.

    Anyone have experience with both? Any advice?

    I don't know the website, but the price is clearly a closeout on the older Flow model. You can't get the new EX for anywhere near that price. Did the retailer say they would make the swap at that price?

    It was Backcountry.com and I have a bro code, hence the price. Their regular price is $88. They were not on closeout. They said they were EXs. I called and they do not have the EX in stock, hence my considering keeping them.....

    I have been riding the old Flows for two seasons now. Weigh 240. Have not had to turn a nipple. Great rims IMO. Keep them.

    I've ridden both, ride both. The Ex's are a few millimeters wider, and a bit stronger, but I'm 205 riding weight and beat the crap out of the old Flows and have never had a single issue. If they'll swap for the same price, swap. Otherwise, for $35, the old Flows can't be beat.

    +1 on keeping the Flows. I also got a great deal on the old Flows about 3 months ago. I built them up with Hope Pro 2 evo from CRC and double butted spokes from Cambria Bicycle. I weigh 230-240 with gear and these things are rock solid. 100% happy with my purchase, zero complaints so far.

    If they are going to swap them for free then I would go for the EX. If not I would keep the old ones.
