should I go wide for rigid SS 29er?

I ride a rigid Swift with Dusters 29 tubless, but going to build up a SS specific set of wheels. Had planned to go with Flows this time. Now I've got to thinking about a wide rim like the Gordo or P35.

Is the extra 5mm width over the Flows worth the weight penalty and non-tubeless application of the Gordo or apparent softness of the P35? Or will the right tire cover me anyway?

The Flows do fine with a 2.3 to 2.4 tire tubed or tubeless. Unless your planning on running something bigger than that, It wouldn't be worth the extra weight IMHO.

Gordos have been fine for me since 2008. Fat is good! Rigid SS as well. The wide rims do good things to large volume tires.
