I just installed a set of Rubena tires (2.0 Charybdis) just to try something different. The first thing I noticed was that they are not true to size (should have looked at Shiggy's site first), they are about 1.8 or 1.9 with a low volume casing, the tread is pretty aggressive and the knobs are medium height. The knobs are stiff and don't roll over or move easily, which I like.
I have only ridden them once on a wet fire road climb. The traction was as good or better than the 2.2 Mountain Kings I was running and them seem to roll well. I haven't run a small casing tire in a long time so I wasn't sure on what pressure to run. I am 175 loaded up and I have 30psi in the back and 28psi in the front. They still seem pretty hard so I think I drop that down some.
These tires are made in Checoslovakia and I think they have been used in Europe for a while. I know they used to make Nokian tires.
Anyone else tried these tires?
Thanks
