    Rim tape substitute

Got everything to build up a new ride over the holidays, except for rim tape Will a couple of wrap of electrical tape be an acceptable substitute? Or should I just brave the traffic and the 40 mile round trip for the real thing.

Do not use electrical tape. It is too stretchy.

Fiber reinforced packing tape works great.

Seconded. It is not only a workable substitute but an improvement in my opinion
