    Racing Ralph 2.4 vs Rampage 2.35 29er

Running Rampage 2.35 on my anthem X1 29 and they ride well on the technical single track here in Florida, but keep hearing good things about the Shawlbe and it seems like a lot of the higher end 29ers are spec with these. Looking for a high volume tire lighter and faster - RaRa is about twice the price of the Rampage and lighter.

Anyone run both for comparison? Better front or rear?

Also consider Nobby Nic and Hans Damph but that looks kind of similar to the Rampage. $80 seems like a lot for a tire but if they work I'm in!

Shouldn't need to pay $80. Rampage would be in different league regarding cornering traction. I run 650b neo-moto 2.3 which is a rampage clone and Ra Ra 2.4 in 26" and 29". The 29er Ra Ra is all I need for grip on loamy to hardpack trails. We have sandy base, and when compact in winter, they are very good. When the trails dry out and get loose, the extra width of the Ra Ra helps lots, and is surprisingly good. As good as a 2.4 No Ni in 26".29er Rampage would be better. Just a matter in what you are comfortable with and expect from a tire.
The Ra Ra will be a more cushy ride and should be able to run at lower pressure because of larger casing width and less aggressive edge tread.

Best price I've found is around $75 with shipping for Racing Ralph on ebay.

Got a good source or link?

I just ran a RR 2.4 29er EVO casing (tubed) & a Rampage 2.35 (Tubed) as front tires on my FS ride back to back. On loose over hardpack the Rampage offered great traction. I had really high hopes for the RR but it didn't offer anymore traction than the Bontranger XDX 2.1 it replaced. Speedgoat bikes had the RR 2.4 EVO for $49 on closeout. I am glad I didn't pay more for the RR as the Rampage works better for me.

    Thanks for the link!
At that price its worth a shot to try it out. We get soft sandy conditions during drought and it seems like every year gets drier and a big footprint floats better.

If the RaRa is lighter than the Rampage it might be a good alternative.
