Question about double butted spokes, Diameters

    Considering
    2.0/1.5/2.0 DT Revos
    1.8/1.5/1.8 Revos
    2.0/1.7/2.0 Sapim, DT or WM

Against 140lb rider, XC and trail riding, 29er.

Recommendations for for front wheel and back.

I was thinking of going small up front. Big drive side and medium non-drive on the rear.

Of the above are any of the spoke sizes not recommended, or recommended.

Yes I want to shave some weight.

    Thanks

Also depends on the rims and spoke count you want to use and your riding style. I have seen 220lb riders do fine on light wheels and 120lb riders trash beefy builds.

DT and Sapim do not offer 2.0/1.7/2.0 spokes (Wheelsmith does). Their DB 14g spokes are 2.0/1.8/2.0.

I would (almost) never use 15g Revos on a mtb.

    OP-
I'd go with the 2.0/1.5 Revos all around.
Mixing spoke gauges over-complicates things unnecessarily and the recommendations/justification are often arbitrary and/or misguided.

Sapim does now offer the D-Lite, which is 2.0/1.65

Looking at cost my options are.

    Revolution 1.8/1.5
    Revolution 2.0/1.5
    Laser 2.0/1.5
    WS 2.0/1.7

Was thinking WS 2.0/1.7 Rear, Revo 1.8/1.5 front would be a good build. I've had no problems running 1.8 SG over the past year. Will I pick up any problems from the 1.5?

Riding Louisiana trail, 140lb, 32h hubs, Stan Arch's.

    The rims still matter.

I have used SG 1.8 with no issues. Will not use the thinner Revos on a mtb.
