I've got two wheelsets(26"), one for the heavy duty enterprises, XT hubs, Mavic 819 rims, 32 2mm spokes...heavy as an anchor, but reliable.
I've also got a Mavic Crossmax SLR(2008)for the XC races and hard climbing days(truth is that I end up enjoying the lightness of the SLRs and use them daily, and they resist anything)
The issue I found with the freewheel is that normally I use XT 9sp cassettes, 11-32. In the XT hubs the cassette goes direct to the freewheel, and fits perfectly(obviously),in the SLR I have to add a 1mm spacer between the freewheel and the cassette.
But recently I bought a XTR 11-34 cassette, and mounting it with the 1mm spacer, there was a lot of play between the 11t cog and the next. The only solution I came up with was using a second 1mm spacer. It works, but it moves the cassette out from the hub body, and closer to the dropout, thus creating problems in the shifting, and making swapping wheels a nightmare.
Has anyone found this problem before? How did you fix it?
Also, I tried to find any e mail or Mavic Tech form, but nothing so far...
Thanks for your help!
