I am looking into rims for a 29er SB 95. I am 240lbs, 6'4.
What rim and hole count? Stan's Flow or Flow Ex? Flow's are 30.00 a piece cheaper than EX's....
Depending on your riding style I would say that a 32H would suit you well. I just built a set of Flow EX's they are probably a tiny bit wider than I would have wanted for my XC style riding; but the nice wide profile is something to experience! But if you can find Flow's for cheap then I don't think you can go wrong with them. The Flow EX is close to the same weight I think 10g heavier as well as stronger overall.
Flow EX rims have a higher bead seat diameter than the original Flows, so if you're planning on using UST or tubeless ready tires (particularly those from Geax or WTB), I would recommend going with the original Flows. UST or tubeless ready tires from other manufacturers will usually be fine on either rim. And if you're planning on using regular (non-tubeless) tires, choose the Flow EX rims.
If you can find 36H hubs of your choice, I'd recommend going with 36 spokes 3 cross at your weight (assuming you'll be riding aggressively on your Yeti SB95). But 32 will likely be fine, too.
Oh, and I highly recommend having them built (or at least finished) by a pro builder like Mikesee at Lace Mine 29 - Big Bicycle Wheels
