Maxxis Minotaur - good for anything?

I bought a pair of super cheap Maxxis Minotaurs last year and decided to take them for a ride today.

Holy crap those things are squirrely. The only thing they did well is go fast in a straight line, but if I moved the bars I was all over the place. I actually wussed out and took the less-technical descent because I didn't want to end up launching myself down the mountain.

Is there any conditions that they perform well in? Mud maybe? I don't want to pitch them, but they don't seem to work very well even on pavement...

They keep the inner tubes off the ground pretty well.

    Yeah - they did that...

Guess they will go back in the box of tires, never to be seen again...

They would be a decent choice if you wanted to carry an extra tire on a long ride.
