What type of punctures? To reduce pinch flats (aka 'snakebites') increase inflation pressure and/or increase the tire size. For thorns, etc. either a Tuffy tube liner or use a liquid latex product.

well. i have started minor downhillin and cross country so the punctures would more than likely be thorns etc.

For thorns you can get a liner to help, but a big thorn is still gonna get ya. Never used a liquid latex product before, but I can see that being better than the liner. I'm using a liner atm and haven't had any problems. I do plan on going tubeless if punctures keep becoming a problem.
