front UST tire to compliment Conti vertical pro's

Currently I'm running Conti vertical pros UST in the rear (2.3) more like a 2.2 and I havn't settle on a front tire yet I as thinking about just going with the diesel for better traction but I've heard mixed reviews. Here in Maine, I ride alot of rooty/organic/pineneddly trails and one trail that runs along a clay riverside so generally I gravitate to a allrounder.

I ALMOST went that route. Treads just look so damb spread out -- I just couldn't come to grips with it. Then I read some reviews with durability probs and shyed away.
