Novatec D882 is the hub model. Sometimes you can find parts and/or hubs on Fleabay.

Hi ocguy, have you replace the free hub yet? If yes, where did you get it?
I emailed novatec rep too and am waiting for response. Thanks

Check out
bdopcycling.com/Downloads/Novatec/Cassbody%20Compatibility%20-%20all.pdf
Novatec D882 = Type B
I cannot tell from looking at this
trianglemtb.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=22873.0#msg158232
The anti bite guard freehub looks durable, but they only have B1 type

it does look like it is the b-type. i guess one could sent it back if it doesn't fit.

ocguy, did you buy this from Performance? If so, then just return it for refund (or replacement). Performance has a great return policy, which I have used (I returned a back wheel that was the model before the Xenduro).
If you didn't buy it from them, you might be able to still return, or make a deal on a new one. Depending on the store or who I get on the phone, I get the feeling they do not like their broken components out in the world.

they only warranty it for 1yr...have had it longer than that.

Yeah, plus the wheel is NLA with Performance, too, so you couldn't get a replacement anyway. I'm 99.99% sure that the hub is a D882B.
-
Plus I'm in Canada, so if mine fails I'd rather just buy a new freehub, than ship the wheel cross the border to Performance...

No, I didn't order any. May be in the future.
my hub works fine. Its a great wheels. I would buy again if the performance bike stock them.
Another option is bring your freehub to performance store
and compare it with forte terramax freehub
Looking at the pic, it looks like novatec hub as well. I'm not sure what type
If it matches, may be you can talk them out to swap the hub as warranty
I doubt that they will do that

After still not receiving my freehub or an update from novatec i contacted bdopcycling.com about the freehub. Timothy at bdopcycling was super-responsive and helpful. sent him several pics of the hub and freehub and he idenifyed it as the novatec hub that takes the TYPE B freehub. place my order with him and he said i'll have it in 12days (from taiwan).

Thats great! Thanks for the update
I wonder if they have 'anti bite guard' freehub for B type. I don't see it on the website

Hey guys
Any update on this? I've got the exact same problem. Performance says they will refund my money and help me choose another wheel if I like. But I would prefer to salvage the wheel if possible. They're nice wheels.
I've been wondering if the freehub is the reason they stopped offering this wheelset. It would be nice if they could find a better freehub and begin offering the wheel again.

It is D882SB-SS that uses a B-Type freehub body.
You can order the freehub from Timothy Barkley
BDop Cycling Company Ltd.
BDop Cycling Co. it will be a few days to the office and then 7~10 business days to you.
think it was $35. seems better than the original.,

I tried to order the part and didn't see anyplace on the website to specify the model other than:
type A or B, Shimano/SRAM or Campy
So I emailed Timothy to ask. His reply was:
"Just order the B Type freehub on our website. We only sell it in steel for MTB."
I just placed my order and followed up with an email specifying D882SB-SS. Has anyone placed an order and had the same experience? Have you received your freehub yet?

ordered and received mine a few months back. works great, it is steel so a little heavier than the original but it won't snap in 2 like the original did. takes about 2 weeks from when you order to receive

I'm a little late with my follow up, but I received my freehub and have been using it for a few weeks. For anyone in the same situation, I recommend BDop for the replacement part.
