DT Swiss 340 20mmx110 hub to 15mmx100
Well, I had no luck finding replacement end caps for a DT Swiss 340 hub (240 and 350, yes, but not 340) so I have to ghetto rig it.
Just want to make sure I haven't forgotten anything before I commit to removing metal
I found a 20mm to 15mm adapter on ebay-- it's just an aluminum tube with a 20mm OD and 15mm ID. Now that the 15mm axle fits, I just need to get the width right, and I'm assuming I can simply take the end caps off the hub and grind them down 5mm on each side. I'm not sure how careful I have to be with the tolerances. One potential hiccup is that the fork appears to have a pocket milled into the lowers which means they are narrower than 100mm (to make sliding the wheel into the correct location easier). Obviously my 20mm ID end caps won't fit nicely into this, so I'll have to shave less than 5mm along a portion (so much for just simply chucking them in a lathe).

Or maybe this is too goofy, and I should simply take the dimensions off the end caps and mill my own.
Or buy a wheel

Wanted to follow up that I used the 20 to 15mm adapter and an angle grinder. It works. The 20mm OD end caps won't slide into the groove in the fork lowers, but once you tighten it down I haven't had any issues after a year running like this.
