Do I really need bike specific grease for my hubs?

So in this rainy day in SoCal I decided to take apart my Hope XC hub to give it some loving and found that I should have done this a while ago. hub and pawls are fine but I only have two type of grease here at the house. Can I use either of the ones in the picture or do I need a bicycle (hub) specific grease. For my CK hubs i follow the instructions and use their grease and for my Shimano hubs....nevermind, they never lasted long enough to service :-)

So guys, can I use these or do I need to drive over to Performance to buy grease for my Hope hub?

I use plain old automotive grease (a tube like on the left of your picture) on my Pro II hubs, service them two months or so with no problems so far. Just use the grease sparingly to retain the noise from the hub, doesn't take much on each pawl/spring, then a bit around the teeth of the hub itself.
