Do I need to adjust the cone on my hub?

I just took off my wheel from my bike and when I move the axle (not the quick release mechanism), it is fairly loose on the cassette side of my rear wheel. does this mean I need to tighten the cones in the hub? i am not too familiar technically with a bike wheel, but from what I read so far I think this is what I do. Just wondering if anyone can confirm this and are there any good youtube videos to adjust the cone?
