New question here. Conti - MountainKing or TrailKing

What do you guys think? Which would be better suited for local XC riding. I live in Florida, so we don't have mountains but it is wet a lot and want something with good grip.

I have alot of conti tires.
    Mk I in 2.4
Mk II in 2.2 and 2.4
    Tk in 2.2 and 2.4
    All black chili models
Mks are all protection models as well.
Im my experience the Tk packs up with wet soil more than any of the mk tires do.
But the mk tires run on the small side.
My new favorite tire to date is the mkII in 2.4 protection f and r.
Sheds mud well and is durable.
Some people will consider it on the large side for a general xc tire...but i find the 2.2 a little small for my taste.

    Tk 2.4 is huge!!
Not a great choice for general xc riding.
    If u go with a Tk i would get a 2.2
Tk 2.2 and mk2.4 are very similar in size.

I run a set of Conti Trail King 2.2's on my Specialized Rockhopper HT. The 2.2's little injection-mold "nubs" when brand new rubbed on the chain stays... if that tells you of the size.

I must say though, even after having some issues with my first set of Trail Kings, I'm a Conti customer for life. They really do support us well, and took care of me once I got a hold of their customer service. They really back their product if issues arise.

Two thumbs up to Conti.... that's for sure.

    Rigs:
    Specialized Rockhopper HT
    Trek 6500 HT
Trek 3700 Disc HT (The son's)

Black Chili is really key. According to the conti site, the 29" choices for both the MK and TK are limited, and none are BC.

My experience with three different BC tires (TK 26x2.4, MK1 26x2.4 Prot, RK 26x2.2 SS) has been very good. BC grips really well, especially noticeable on wet surfaces, and is also long wearing. My limited experience with conti's non-BC tires (MK1 29x2.2) is really bad. Terrible grip on wet surfaces, and it wore fast.

15mm is a second-best solution to a problem that was already solved.

this is my issue, Miami doesn't have any mountains but there are several man made trails made mainly of soil which Miami is known for its heat and rain. Black soil and rain don't mix so I need something with good grip.

From what I am looking at, It seems only the XKing comes with Black Chili. The TrailKing and Mountain King don't on a 29er tire.

for xc riding, I'll go with the X king 2.2 protection or the race version. Both Tubeless Ready tires with good grip and super light. If you want more grip, go with the Mountain King MKII 2.2 in the front. The 2.4's are huge for both Xking and MK II. 2.4 on the Trail Kings are even bigger and heavy.

Since everyone I've spoken to tells me I need to go with the Black Chili models I went with the 29er XKing. All the other models are in back order and eBay has nothing but used tires and RaceKing models . Let's see how it goes ..
