Confused about spoke length for 15mm SD ISO Chris King Front 28hole

    Hi all

I've tried to do some research for the spokes required for a 28hole Mavic xm819 disc, but to no avail ;( There were info on 32holes but not 28. I've tried mavics spoke calculator but am clueless.

My question is, what size spokes and nipples do i need if i'm using a 28hole 15mm SD ISO Chris King? Spokes preferred DT comp.

For starters the front hub specs are
    Flange diameter (d/nd -mm) 57.4
    Center to Flange (d/nd - mm) 31.6/23.3
    Axle width 100mm
    Axle diameter 15mm

Read on the forums that Mavic xm 819 disc EDR is 536 but on the spoke calculator it's 538?

Reason why going through such a hassle is, i'm buying the XM819 Disc from chainreactioncycles and would be easier to buy the spokes and nipples at once. Cause a few LBS around my area charges $3-4 for a DT comp spoke (nipple included), which seems pricey.

Don't know about the erd but universal cycles sells comps for .99 each. When you find out the rim erd the calculator will tell you to get spokes 1mm longer for one side of the wheel - just get all 28 in the same length. Then if you buy spokes from universal you can get $2.99 shipping (any quantity of single item ships for 2.99). Then place a second order for the nipples - also with $2.99 shipping.

awww spokes/nipples from universal cycles are cheap but they cost $7.50 to be shipped to Australia

Thanks for the info, once i find out what length spokes i require, i'll get all the 28 spokes of the same length +1mm

Are you going to build this wheel?

    Mavic's spoke calculator is worthless.

Use the DT Swiss spoke calculator but put in all your own numbers. The 538mm number is good for the 819 disc. For 28h you will probably want 2x. Use 16mm nipples.

$7.50 for shipping is a hell of a lot cheaper than an extra $2-$3 per spoke x 28 spokes.

Confused about spoke length for 15mm SD ISO Chris King Front 28hole-test.jpg

    Using 16mm nipples (28 hole)
    ERD: 538mm
    Front left: 260mm
    Front right: 261mm
I assume for my front, i could use 261mm for all spokes?
Would i be able to use 262mm as crc doesn't sell 261mm?
