Thx for the input. Just to elaborate to others, they are meant to sandwich your brake rotor against the wheel: rotor bolts -> red reinforcement ring -> rotor -> hub/wheel.

They came with my wheelset, but I'm trying to gauge the benefit. Maybe if your rotors were flimsy in the bolt area? But that's where rotors usually have the most material anyway. I can't see this helping with warping either as they barely extend beyond the bolt area. (?)

AC really only recommends them on those rotors which, as you say, are flimsy in the bolt area - i.e., where the steel isn't in a continuous "circle" around bolt area (tough to describe). This is the case with some Formula rotors, so I did install them. They're about 5 grams, so no big deal.

I have Shimano Ice Tech rotors and am not using the rings. No problems except the ice tech rotors squeal when they are wet!

I just did a 48 km ride with the new ac race wheelset.

its great till i finished the ride and since there were a lot of people commenting that it looses its true i checked it.

I put my thumb on the front wheel almost touching the rim and spun it, then i moved my thumb closer till it barely touches the rim and it contacted my thumb all the way around.

Now i did the same to the rear wheel and it was not so good, there was a slight wobble about 2 mm or so on an area of the wheel when it was spinning.

Im going to the dealer here tom so they can fix the problem.

Im just about 160 +5 pounds when geared up and these are rated to 200-210 pounds but i seem to have made it loose its true
