AEST,Quando, and Novatec hubs
Are these brands of disc hubs good?
-
They're not terrible, in that they function as intended. But they are not [all] high performing hubs.

The Novatec hubs I have owned have been rock solid but heavy. They had good cartridge bearings, were smooth rolling, and solid 24 poe on the freehub body.
The one set of Quando hubs I had were cheap cup and cone models that came with a Bikes Direct 29er. I thought for sure I'd kill them quickly but did pack them with a good waterproof grease. Three years later they were still going strong with annual repacks. The freehub body was 16 poe so nothing special but it never failed under my clydeness where other parts on the bike did.
