700x35c tires on a XC race 29er?
I heard that mountain bikes with steep head tube angles are designed for bigger tires and don't work well with smaller tires. Is this true or not and if it is true, how narrow of a tire can I get before it becomes a problem?
I am going to put some road tires on a second set of wheels for my XC race bike. It is a new Giant XTC 29er with a 71.5 head tube angle.
I did the same thing on my trek 29er ht for a while till I got a bike just for riding around town, works fine but don't expect it to zip around like a road bike. Better than big knobbies for the pavement though lol.

Life on 2 wheels is the only life for me. Especially once it gets dark.

ALL MTBs are designed for bigger tires. You can use any width that fits your rims and frame/fork.

If anything, steeper HTAs are more appropriate for road use than slacker.
The trouble with common sense is it is no longer common
