    Working/MTB holiday in Canada (horticulture)?

This seems like a good spot post this....

So my better half and I are really liking the idea of getting away from Australia for a little while, and working in the MTB promised land that is Canada. We both work in horticulture (~10yrs), specifically plant pathology (I've got a PhD, and She'll soon have one too)...we both have a wide range of experience from applied to academic. I don't suppose there are any horticulture people here that might know of any work opportunities? Whistler bike park is calling...loudly .

    Cheers!!!

    Andrew.

    Andrew,
A Government of Canada site called Working in Canada may help you check out some options. Enter your job title and a location that you are interested in within Canada, and it will show what is available. I found a couple of ads for biologists near Banff without a lot of fiddling around.

Thanks heaps for the tips guys. Much appreciated. We'll have a good hunt around the web. From what we've read so far, it doesn't look like we could go for pulling beers type work, as we're over 30. So we'd probably have to get an employer lined up first. Fingers crossed there's something out there. Would even consider repping for a chemical company...I have some contacts in Bayer Australia...so I might start there.

Since plant pathology is your specialty, Bayer Crop Science is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, gateway to the Rocky Mountains... and mountain biking nirvana. They'd be a good place to start your search. It might be a perfect match. Careers at Bayer

Also, there is a federal research station in Summerland, just outside Penticton.

MTB riding in Penticton, Summerland, Kelowna, Kamloops, etc ....
