when to ride BC, camping, bears

We're planning a trip to BC to ride in whistler, Pemberton, squamish, Rossland. Our timing is flexible, is sept the best time? What are the camping options? Are bears a problem there?

Just be smart with how you stow your food and keep it away from the tents and you will be good. Bears are always out there and if you play it smart you will be fine.

    Sept is great

Whistler - Riverside campgrounds close to town. Cal-cheak farther away

Squamish - Alice Lake or Cat Lake depending on how many amenities you want

Pemberton - the Owl Creek campgrounds

Rossland - Nancy Greene Prov Park.

    Bears are great too

The bears believe that people are the problem, just to be fair about it.

Here's the long range temp/precip forecasts that are predicting warmer/drier summer months

The one thing you do give up in September vs. August is a shorter riding daylight period.

anytime now till october is good for pemby/whis/squamish (although mid summer isn't great in pemby). First two weeks of sept is the best to visit whistler, especially if you want to ride the bike park.

Bears are not the problem, people doing stupid things because of bears are the problem. Read up on the bear aware website, take care of your garbage, don't feed them, don't stop in the middle of the road to take pictures (on the highway to whistler we get 'bear jams'... traffic jams caused by tourists stopping to take pics of bears).

You do know pemberton, whistler, squamish are all really close together and rossland is really far away from those 3 places right? if you want to have a trip without driving a lot i'd do north van, squamish, whistler, pemberton, sunshine coast. you wouldn't have to drive more than like an hour and those places+vancouver island is pretty much all I've ridden for the ~13 years I've been mtbing and i still find new stuff haha

Rossland had a really nice campground right in town at Lions Park. Hot showers, close to trails....

Getting my passport to go to Canada in SF today. Last minute deal.

After that, I plan on checking out north van and squamish with my 2 & 1/2 weeks off between summer classes. Anyone else think of anything right around there? I've got a trail bike, a Norco Range from 2011.
