I'm riding Comfortably numb tommorow (wed) , but what are the must do routes should I try in Pemberton and Squarmish before I go ?? (Rode river runs through it today - on my second run I nailed almost all the easy routes - but still freak out on any thing less than a foot wide - or require drops or hops - if that matters for the suggested routes)
For pure xc in Squamish try the Gearjammer race course. It's not too far to spin back up the highway from the finish to the start at Alice Lake where you can park your car.

After the rocky rooty hell of comfortably numb - i'm looking forward to getting onto some smoother trails - dont get me wrong numb was a ride worth doing - but I wont be rushing to ride it again, I started at 10:30 from whistler village and got back at 5pm after riding back via some of the lost lake trails (Which were oh so smooth comapred to cn)
How about Ring Creek Rip. A 9 km forest service road climb capped off with the grunt up Lava Hill. Followed by the totally fun Rip, only to be outdone by the Power House Plunge complete with Wallace and Gromitt "Techno Moves". If you still have some juice in yer legs you could finish off with Crumpit Woods. Part of the Test of Metal course.
Visit Tantalus Bike Shop off the highway at the first light in Squish from Whistler. On the left behind the Starbucks. Or visit the Squish adeventure center. It's a funky looking wooden building on the left a little further south.
If you have the Whistler/ Squamish guide book, the route is described therein. Good for 2 to 4 hours depending on route choice and speed.
Hopefully the term “hell’ when applied to CN was at least partly tongue in cheek, although I have met people on that trail that have absolutely hated the trail due to the length and technical difficulty.* Hope you have some luck finding smoother trails today (almost all the valley bottom trails or Riverside trails at the south end of town - or in Squamish, either the ones mentioned before or the ones from the Test Of Metal Course – look up the website for course description).** Another suggestion for later today (Thursday) – take a wander into the Whistler village core (near Cittas and Araxi’s) at about 6:15 – you will witness a bit of Whistler biking ‘culture’ – our weekly Loonie race starts there today – probably 250 people.
Lee, that's two statements I thought would never appear in your posts.
