    Trans Canadian Trail info.

Hi, I am thinking of riding the Trans Canadian trail next year, or the year following.

As I understand it, the trail is only partially completed.

Is it possible to get maps of the trail ?

Is there GPS info available for the trail ?

    Cheers Rich

I've already managed to glean some info. from the links below.

parts of it in B.C., mainly the goat river section, are claimed to be unridable, though I call total B.S. on this. I've riden a large chunck of it though Willmore willderness park. bring your game face, leave your lugagage.

after Quesnal it follows the AMH trail, which is creamy open pine forest, at least the small part I saw. passing though Tweedmuir it is off limmits to bikes. but I don't think you'd run into any one out there.

As far as I can tell the trail itself is sort of a patchwork, with different sections maintained by different organizations. Right now there is no single guide or source of information on the trail that I have seen, in terms of maps or GPS, I think it is pretty hit and miss.

Here in Yukon we have put in a fair bit of trail but almost none of it is mapped or even well described yet. If you decide to swing North I can help you out.

Just did a 100 km section of it yesterday, actually.

    Regards, Anthony

There is also a book available on the BC section (there is a pic of me & my wife in it actually), but I'm not sure if the rest of the country have books out yet or not.

This is the group that over sees the BC section.

Have fun, I've done the section between Grand Forks & Hope, as well as the optional stuff a few times.
