I havn't posted anything in a while but on Sunday I did a pretty crazy trip. One of the guys at work has started mtbing and I have taken him out a few times to Ft SK and Strathcona Science Park. He is young (< 1/2 my age) and did okay. I havn't been down to Kananaskis this year so I asked him and he was very keen. I picked him up and we left Edmonton at 0730 and were on our way up Prairie View by 11:30. The climb sucks and my buddy had to walk the steep part. We carried our bikes up the very top part and were rewarded with the incredible view of mountains, Barrier Lake, and of course the prairies. I was sure that a beginner would fall of his bike a few times on the way down but he cleaned the whole descent. I was impressed. I then suggested that we cross the road and ride Baldy Pass. We started up and while it is an easier climb I ran out of steam towards the top while my partner did a bit more walking. My mind had glossed over the climb up and it seemed longer than I remembered. We got to the chilly top and readied ourselves for the amazing descent. It is a great ride down and I enjoyed it more than Prairie View. My riding partner cleaned 99.9% of it and we were grinning like fools. We loaded up and drove back to Edmonton. A long and incredible day.
