It's not looking like it in North Vancouver.

Here's a pic of Andrew at Lynn Valley B&B two days ago. He's a block from Fromme's trail system.

Some trails in Kamloops should be good to go by the weekend. Not a lot of trails but some.

Nice to see temps back to seasonal norms again this week. +15 C today in Calgary and messy as hell. I can't believe how quickly all the snow is melting.

We don't really get spring here on the wet coast, more like an extension of November or 'Novapuary' which will carry on to, oh July 15th or so and then return by the end of September.

Having said that, the +4 to +7 degree celsius we typically have this time of year is adequate to keep cycling year 'round.

Other than the 25mm/hr rainfall we seem to be having right this minute. I just saw a squirrel float by gesturing to throw him a bagel to use as a life preserver.

crocus's and tulips all poking their heads out again in my garden. Hiked some trails and not too much water damage this winter so it'll be brush clearing time soon

Not too bad in the Okanagan although I had to give one of my local trails a miss last weekend as it was covered in a layer of ice with water flowing on top of it. No interest in mounting studded tires in March. Found a few other places though and the temps are supposed to be in the double digits by Saturday. Spring is coming, slowly.

We're just hitting prime Pugsley season up here in Yukon. More daylight and the trails are well-packed. We can get on road bikes in another few weeks but mountain biking season looks like it will start around May 1, as usual.

Trails are clearing up fast in Kamloops. North side trails are good, the south side ones, at least the ones down low, will be another couple of days.

That's what my car said yesterday, and that's what I heard on the news.... you must have missed it. Anyway, it's back to below seasonal temps again.... it IS Calgary, after all.

I'm not taking off my studded tires until May long

Nice! If you don't mind, keep me updated on Kamloops (and all other areas) as they're getting close to rideable - thinking I'm going to have to make a weekend pilgrimage to find some dirt. Edmonton's going to be snowy and wet for a loooong time, I think.

It might not quite be 'spring' but I decided the roads were dry enough here to start doing my work commute, -14c this morning when I left, -1 when I came back (Selkirk MB). Like an idiot, I got dressed for -14 when I finished work, felt like +40

We had spring sign in Sweden, about the same altitude. A kid skiing had close encounter with a bear.

If they are getting up, the spring is on its way!

    Oh wow that's gorgeous!

Up to +3c here today! More than warm enough to head out in a sweater and light gloves, tooled around town for 40 minutes before heading to work, tomorrow planning on at least an hour. Woo boy am I out of shape, 30km/h head winds in the afternoon made my 10 minute 3.5km commute back from work 20+ minutes

I agree. I will definitely be up for a jaunt out to the Okanagan for a few days of riding. I see that Whistler will be open on May 20th! SWEET! So much snow.....

Trails in Kamloops are amazing right now. Hero dirt you can corner as hard as you possibly want.

The stuff above 800 meters still has snow but all the lower stuff is perfect.

And it was 20 degrees today, thats right 20 degrees.

    Spring time in Calgary..... Sheeesh!

And this is why you don't remove your snow tires until May long weekend in Calgary. One day everything is melted and you're outside in shorts and a golf shirt in mid-teen Celsius weather.... and the next day you get this.

Friday there was no snow around my place and I've been riding for a few weeks now. This is what it looks like from my driveway on Sunday morning.

Calgary you can never count on a higher probability of spring weather until after the May long weekend snow fall.

It'll probably all be gone by Tuesday and it will be back to business as usual. There's nothing more schizophrenic than Calgary in the spring.... "do I wear shorts tomorrow, or is it going to be a parka day?". If it wasn't for the fact the climate is generally milder than 90% of the rest of the country, I'd probably move south.

So many May long weekend riding trips to Kananskis Country have involved being snowed on, back in the days I lived in Calgary. And so many were elevation dependent.

Well, it sorta counts as spring when I can get the Cx bike out and get commuting to work again. Still running into some deep snow areas on some of the rout I take to work (8" of snow and a skinny knobby just don't get along)...but it is far better to be on the roads and trails with the Cx bike than having it sitting on the trainer!!

Perfect ride weather today. I'm heading out on the road to Bragg Creek and back, then going skiing tomorrow. Almost a meter of fresh up at Nakiska this week.

EDIT: Whew... good ride. Lots of riders out today whizzing around on their Cervelos and tri-bikes. Had to push hard to keep up on my fat tired Santa Cruz. Good workout.

Try going down there in summer and you'll change your tune. Too hot to do anything outdoors. Everyone stays indoors trying to keep cool.... kind of like Canadians staying indoors during the winter.

    lol

yeah like I'm going to be here in July and August

The idea was to avoid the snow so hopefully some year we can get 4 snow free months In S Alberta.

It was 88 here the other day with 15% humidity felt like 75 in a humid Canadian summer.. Perfect riding weather.

I see the long range forecast is the usual crap for Calgary...below normal. I bet there is still 2 feet of snow in my front yard.
