USE Ti seatpost size and min insertion

I bought the short USE Ti seatpost for my full suspension bike. I have 2 questions regarding it:
    1) It's marketed as a road post. I don't think there is any difference between this one and the MTB post other than the length. Am I right?
    2) The booklet that comes with it says 100mm is the min insertion for MTB (80 for road). 100mm seems extreme. I can do 80 no problem, but I can't do 100. Does anyone think this is a major issue for me?

You are correct about the difference between road and mtb

The 80mm insertion should not be a problem since the top part of the post that fits between the clamps is very thin where it meets the post and will break off first. Mine broke off this week when my pedal hit a root on a slow steep climb. It wasn't much of an impact, I didn't even realize I no longer had a saddle until about 50 yards later when I decided to sit down after the trail started leveling out. The only thing on top of the seatpost was a jagged piece of metal that cut a hole in my shorts.
