    I also assumed that most people here were bike dorks in any fashion.

    Yes, my main MTB cost 12 times more than my road bike (actual cyclocross bike) and I don't get too excited about fancy carbon road bikes. However, it is still an interesting article.

    I guess I am also the person who in addition to MTB is intrigued by fixies, TT bikes, track bikes, unicycles, trial bikes, and big wheels. If I ever had the opportunity to ride any of them I would jump at it. If I had the opportunity to own all of those I probably would. I just don't have the money, space or time to convince myself that I need those.

    I'm sure some of the frame/rim/hub/crank,etc technology can cross over, besides things like stems, saddle and seatpost that can be use on a mountain bike as is..
