    strong enough for xc riding?

    I don't see why not. Just as long as it is long enough... Most road seat posts are short... under 300 mm long

    it's the 250 lenght that already measures 185g so at a MTB-usable 300 or 350 lenght it may be well over 250g....that's heavy!

    as long as you don't already have it i would stay clear of that seatpost. it will cost quite much and is not light. but for sure strong enough!
