If you want light, strong, stiff, yet still reasonably priced, I recommend:

    Syntace Force 109

    And maybe:

    New Ultimate EVO

To answer the question, which is lightest in the literal sense (lightest I've found from a reputable brand): ax-lightness: ZEUS

Is this for the Cannondale in your sig? Just something to look out for, Cannondale MTB's usually have a 1.5" steerer. So unless the fork has been changed to one with a standard 1 1/8" steerer tube (and the headset changed to accomodate it), your options are very limited. I think Thompson makes one, don't know who else.

good eye jjaguar. yes, i am looking for a lighter 1.5" stem for the 2013 jekyll. i am currently running cannondale 100mm c3 stems, weighing in 127g. i was looking for something more lighter. the thomson elite x4 are a bit heavier at 179g

Yeah, I have a Cannondale also (Trail SL2) and that's why I noticed. It's the only thing that I don't like about the bike, because it makes it harder to try different stems to adjust for fit. On the plus side, when I get around to upgrading the fork, steerer size is not an issue. With the appropriate headset, the frame will accept both straight or tapered steering tubes.
