    Light Tubeless Tires?

Trying to figure out what kind of tires would work well on a race bike...

From what I've been reading, Kendas, Michelins, and Hutchinsons all seem to be quite fragile, which is not something I want to be dealing wth.

I'm considering Bontrager Super-X Lites, I have regular Super-Xs that i'm quite happy with. They aren't the lightest tires out there though.

    Any other suggestions?

I ride Schwalbe Fast Fred UST 2.0 (they weigh 575 gr.) And I'm really happy with them, not really good in thick mud, but in normal conditions really good!
And they are light and I offer good puncture protection.

For muddy conditions I ride Schwalbe Skinny Jimmy's.

If you live in the States, I would order in Europe, they are a lot cheaper over here.

    UST or other?

You didn't specify whether these are UST ready tires or if you're converting. I've been lurking around reading up on Stan's system, and they have a list of recommended tires, I think that continental, kenda, hutchinson were on it, ie, good compatability. Bontragers are a no-no, something with the aramid bead I guess. They have a list of tire mfg's not to use too. Find it over at

As I stated before, I've not used tubeless, just been reading everything I can to see if it's worth the hassle...

I use UST ready tires on crossmax SL rims.

I know someone who used the normal Fast Freds light 2.0 with stan's system, very light!

    Good luck searching...
