    Light & Strong V-Brake Rims?

What's available on the market now?

I need to finish my old school GT Zaskar rig.

Back in the "Olden Days" we used to shred
MAVIC X517 rims, but they ain't easy to find!

They were about 400 grams and strong.

The approved tire widths for the XC 717s are 1.0-2.1".

    Mavic XC 717

I suggest you to get the XM 317 rims instead.
