Are those custom shifters your final version? The buttons look like they're very small and at a tricky angle to reach with a thumb in a hurry.

Do they work ok in practice?

    Flash Di2

Great bike! I have been very interested in di2 for MTB for a long time.

How did you achieve the custom rear derailleur cage? Were you able to buy it yourself? Did you design it and have it machines yourself? Is it just cnc? Do you have the cad files?

All the mods required to make di2 work how happy are you with the result? How long did it take you to do?

    Thanks!

i spent long time thinking a solution , viewing the K-Edge solution.

K-Edge cage was a bit expensive , they asked me aorund 250-280 usd (not rememberingwell, sorry) + shipping 2 times overseas from home (Italy) to USA and reverse.

however, i want to have a custom solution, not easy as buying a complete groupset from K-Edge but more satisfactory for me...

thet worked in the right direction for a 29er use with XX Sram 11-36 cassette: 36T cog is very large, and a normal derailleur is not able to run it.
if you think about it, 10 speeds means the arriving of XTR shadow that has the cage a bit backwards respect old XTR 970-971 models ...
K-edge so decided to put upper pulley backwards a ... millimeters. ( don't know how much )

i work on rescue helicopters so i have a "good eye" ... i decided that right measure was x mm backwards and y mm down for the new point of screwing rear derailleur on hanger.

a friend did a work on his Flash 26" 2 years ago: not happy about weak Cannondale stock derailleur hanger, asked to a small company (one man does all) to do a custom hanger.
i remeber this, so asked to my friend to keep me in touch with this CNC owner.
spoke a lot, drunk some beers, and he said yes to my request.

not speedy work, have to wait 30-40 days (boring waiting for) but i have 2 cages.
one for spare or for sale...

i called them Siffredi, like a man, famous italian pornostar ( my RD hanger is not so long as his d**k ...)

so not a engineer study ...but at a glance...

i have no files, maybe CNC worker has them...

i hav not so much free time to stay in my garage to work on bikes, so i took 3-4 monhts to finish it

Thanks so much for the reply! Really good info.

How happy are you with the result? What crank/chainrings are you using?

This article says that wiggens put a Yumeya XTR cage on his Di2 rear derailleur: Wiggins' Shimano Di2 Long-Cage Derailleur | Pro Cycling News: This Just In | Bicycling.com

I imagine its the same as the normal XTR cage, just both sides carbon. If you can swap it (who knows if it was an easy swap or if there was some other BS they had to do that the author didn't know about) what's the downside? Why are people, and why did you, make a custom cage and not use an XTR cage?

This article mentions doing the same thing: Hack! Ultegra Di2 Long Cage Rear Derailleur

    Thank you!

    Yumeya | eliflap

i already bought a Yumeya cage, yes same as XTR971 long cage.
i never tried it, but for my hopinion i think it fits only a 11-34T cassette ...

why Shimano goes to Shadow rear derailleur when arrived 10 speeds cassettes ?

for the request of moving backward the upper pulley. in fact 972 and 971 are very different deraillaurs.

the cage lenght in a 36T cog mount is important but not mandatory.

so my Yumeya is keeping dust.

i do not want install it with my long hanger: both installed, rocks beoming too close to my rear derailleur ...

    for Wiggins' link and picture : it's not a 36T cassette , maybe 32 or 34 ...not 36.

hope to explain in easy and unsterstanding words, sorry for my poor English.
