    fat tire recommendations

i've got a set of rocket rons on my "lightweight" wheelset and i keep my fatties on a set of oem mavics for days at the park and such. the schwalbes are okay but i really prefer the grip of the heavier nevegals on the mavic wheels.

is there a light-ish fat tire with max traction out there?

    here's what i've got:

schwalbe rocket ron performance, 2.25 fr/rr

    nevegal, 2.35fr / 2.25rr

Continental Mountain King 2.4" ProTection in Black Chili rubber, very good wet surface and mud grip, and excellent rolling & wear characteristics.

    fat tire recommendations

The Specialized Controls run pretty light, the 2.3 ground control in 26" hit right at 600 gams on my scale and the Butcher is not much heavier. The Nevegal is a slow rolling, heavy tank, but sticks like glue; you will have to give up some traction to get lighter and better rolling, but most feel the tradeoff is well worth it.

racing ralph in the 2.35 variety has volume, and it grips "ok". There are stickier tires, but not at this volume and weight.

Ardent 2.4 will grip a bit more, but it is heavy.

purgatory 2.4 will grip even more, but it is also heavy

Rocket Ron Evolution is grippier than your performance version. That's why they costs so much more. I use one on the front and am very happy with it. And, it is light.
