    ENO vs King SS weight

Posted over in the SS form along these lines - trying to choose the right hub.

Anyone have a weight for White Ind. ENO hub and freewheel (16T)?
Anyone have a weight for King's SS hug and cog (16t)?

    Cheers.

The King is a lot lighter

I don't have the exact weights, but here is an estimate:
The ENO (bolt-on, so no skewer weight added to bike) is about 300 grams. That doesn't seem so bad until you realize that you have to add a BMX style thread on freewheel. The White Industries freewheels are the lightest. They don't make the titanium ones anymore, so you use the steel which weigh 150g and up, depending on tooth count. That gives us a total of around 450 grams.
The King should be around 280-300 with the bolts included, but you are only going to add 50-75 grams in spacers and cog. The aluminum King Kog adds about an ounce less than the steel (25-30g). With Aluminium, the total weight would be around 330g or so.

These are estimates based on my experience, but obviously the thread on freewheel hubs are going to weigh more than the cassette style hubs.

If you want the lightest, go with American classic QR singlespeed hubs and an Aluminum King Kog, which should be around 275 for everything (with a light bolt-on skewer).

But only the ENO allows you to tension your chain at the hub, correct? Are there others out there that will achieve what the ENO does?
