Eggy Ti + Shorter Ti Axles lighter than 2Ti?

    Hi

Does anyone know if Single Ti + the after market Ti axle combo would be lighter than the 2Ti pedals? Using chainreaction prices the Ti+Ti is only £10 more and I like the idea of the shorter axle.

I don't know how heavy the Stainless axle is.

Cool. I did some similar sums from there, but thought I'd check

Here are weights I measured when i put Ti spindles on my SS eggs.

Standard Length Ti Spindle = 32 g (As advertised)
    SS Spindles = 51 g

SS Pedals with Standard Ti spindles = 224 g / pair

    Cheers fella!

I might do ti + ti. with shorter axles then in a few weeks, I can use the rebuild kit on my old SL pedals and bung those on my road bikes . Especially if I can get the new red spring ti ones hehe.

dansjustchillin is possibly getting a batch of the short eggbeater spindles made. They will be 6/4 Ti and about $65/set. Much better than $100 from CB!

Now I know what do you want to do.
BTW 1steel nut is about 1,1g. So on 2 nuts you probably save about 1,5*1,1g(Aluminium is 1/3 the weight of steel )
Did you think about cheenging end cap i think plastic are lighter

I missed out on the auction....was for a Rohloff Speedhub. Gonna wit and have a road trip to germany in the summer hehe.

I have now bought the Ti eggies on ebay. I am struggling to get hold of the Shorter Ti Spindles in the UK, the importer says they aren't available over here.

I like the look of the CB ones. Are these available online (not on CBs site...US only) in any US stores?

Also, the non CB ones. What is available and are trust worthy? I have searched and seen that Nino had some shorter ones...but I can't get away with 12mm shorter ones. There is room for 8mm on my setup/shoes leaving a couple of mm for my over shoes.

    Cheers

    Email Crank Bros

The web site only has US as a destination to send the shorter spindles to.

I emailed Crank Bros and they send 2 sets of shorter Ti spindles to New Zealand, I think postage was US$40. I posted a thread on them sometime last year.

    Happy bunny here.

Chainreactioncycles replied to my mail, took a few days...but they had been chasing it up so I'll let em off hehe. They are getting some in a few weeks, I have put some on special order to ensure I get a pair.

    Cheers

    Great!

Let us know how you like em.

I've had some mates in NZ order from CRC and I've browsed their site a few times but have resisted the urge to order anything :-)

    Will do.

As far as CRC goes....I have at endency to give into their brilliant prices and customer service hehe. Cheapest you can egt for most things apart from the odd ebay deal from the US. Very friendly on the phone too, seems like they ride too, well at least Luke at CRC does.

    I deffinitely recommend them.
