New question here. Cutting fat from a Giant Trance 4 - help please

I'm looking to shave some weight of this beast. It weighs around 30lbs, per the bathroom scale.

My plan is actually to replace this with a much lighter bike, but in the interim, I'm going to make some strategic purchases to help on this Trance.

Riding styles - Trail (small bump/drop/climbs) and some XC racing (~5-10 races)

I've tried to locate the old parts weights and substituted like parts. If the weights seem off, please let me know. I want to make sure I am basing my purchases on good info. I'm also not entirely sold on the parts chosen. I want top brands, that can ship soon, not some scavenger hunt. Costs for the project are intended to remain reasonable. I've laid out some packages at the bottom. I'm most hesitent about the wheelset idea due to cost and weight savings of it. But let me know my best options while trying not to blow the bank.

I'll be checking back in tonight, so no huge rush here.

    Current

    rims Alex DM18 460g per
    hubs Formula 465g + 310g
    spokes Stainless 14G ~500g
    tires Specialized Resolution 26x2.1 700g

    New:

    rims Bontrager Race X Lite TLR Disc CL OLD 460g + 460g = 920
    hubs Bontrager Race X Lite TLR Disc CL OLD 465g + 310g = 775
spokes 28 front/rear DT 14/17g bladed spokes with Alpina locking alloy nipples OLD ~500g
Wheel package Sum for all of the 3 previous lines ($1000) OLD = 2200g

    Savings = 740g
    tires Bontrager XR0 Team Issue (26 x 2.10 part 414099 x2 $140) 700g +720g (440g x 2) = 540g savings

    pedals CRANK BROTHERS Eggbeater 3 ($50 via gift card) 450g 278 = 170g savings

    Options:

    Cost 1 = $140 (tires) + $50 (pedals) = $190

    Weight savings 1 = 540g+170g = 710g = 1.56 lbs

    Cost 2 = $140 (tires) + $50 (pedals) + $130 (handlebar) + $90 (stem) + $100 (seatpost) = $510

    Weight savings 2 = 540g +170g + 150g +55g+47g = 962g = 2.12 lbs

    Cost 3 = $1000 (Wheelset ) + $140 (tires) + $50 (pedals) = $1190

    Weight savings 3 = 740g+540g+170g = 1410g = 3.11 lbs

    Cost 4 = $1000 (Wheelset ) + $140 (tires) + $50 (pedals) + $130 (handlebar) + $90 (stem) + $100 (seatpost) = $1510

    Weight savings 4 = 740g+540g +170g + 150g +55g+47g = 1662g = 3.66 lbs

The wheels/tires will make the most difference, but the cost could be close to half a new bike purchase (say a Trance X 1 or 2).

If you look around, you can find a decently light wheelset under $500.
