FSA carbon ones are well used around here.

Hey anyone use a profile Design alpine pro (carbon crankset)? Hows the weight/stiffness Saw a good price on one, even though its octalink.

FSA and XTR these are popular names, how much lighter is it compared to an 03 xt, and if I went with FSA would I have to buy an FSA bb ???

I believe the FSA Carbon crankset is built on the ISIS standard, so any ISIS bottom bracket will do. I'd be willing to bet that FSA makes one that is fairly light, however.

    '03 XTs are pretty decent...

... althought the BB is a bit portley. According to Weightweenies, they say 624.5g for the arms, rings, ring and BB bolts, and 252g for the BB. Total of 876.5g, not including teflon tape and grease. Compare that to 795g for XTR complete with BB. Granted, 80g is nothing to sneeze at, but for a $300 difference in price...

They list the '04 XTs at 865g actual weight.

    FSA Carbon Pro's

I have ran FSA for the last year and they have performed excellent and they are cheap on E bay:

I also have a set of 03 Octilink LX w/ Alum rings & SRP bolts that only weigh 590 grams and IMO shift better than the FSA chain rings!

have you considered TruVativ Stylo Team cranks? the weigh in at 620g and retail for very little money. paired with a decent Ti BB it should still weigh less than XTR, at a fraction of the cost

especially very barrato if you take into consideration that for 05 Truvativ will sell their own Hollowtech2 style cranks (Giga X-pipe)... that should drop the prices on the 04 ISIS cranks. and from what i remember, the firex ISIS crank arms weigh almost the same as the stylos, the weight difference results mainly from the alloy bolts and chainrings
