I'm looking for a generic sort of lightweight hardtail that would show up cheap in the used listings in good shape.
I find that complete bikes from the big names or generic names often show up cheap and hardly ridden.
Is there a hardtail of that sort that might weigh in around 20 lbs for a Large?
I see most of the threads focusing on the challenge of putting together light new bikes, and light new budget bikes. Not so much on the 2ndhand light cheap market. I figure as long as it's a big/generic brand that when used they'd tend to run cheap.
Anything I should keep my eye out for?
Any frame material is fine.
And a frequent used price of $1k or less (or much less) would be dandy.
It seems like my pals are often content with 23+-lb carbon bikes and it just seems like those are kinda heavy. I'm weak, skinny and easy on equipment and so I always like to opt for lightness, but I often detect that it's not the major value for others.
