    Bolt materials?

I've seen a fair bit of "tuning" using aluminium and Titanium bolts...

But what should be used where?

For example, obviously a caliper bolt is subject to pretty high stresses that are repetitive so Aluminium wouldn't be good choice (although magura used to supply aluminium bolts with the evolution boosters... never had a prob there).

But I've seen a lot of stems with Ti bolts. Is it necessary there, particularly when the thread in the stem is aluminium (so wouldn't Al bolts do the job at a fraction less weight)?

What about cable clamps on mechs? Handlebar clamps for shifters and levers? Seat clamp bolts? Rotor bolts? Anything else?

    my two golden rules are:
    1) safe failure only - use alu bolt only were a failure will not result in a mechanical nightmare or worse loss of control (i.e. derailleur cable clamp that breaks in the woods, or a stem bolt that snaps at 30kmh over rocks)
2)No Ti (unless it comes stock i.e. stems) since the cost to weigth benefit is extrememly poor
