    Bar tape?

Any reason not to use bar tape instead of grips? I'm currently using rubber lock-ons and considering ESI Racer's Edge grips. Just worried about the rotating or slipping. As far as comfort goes, I've been riding rubber grips with no problems and cyclocross guys ride with tape, so, why not MTBs?
No, YOU don't understand. You're making an ass of yourself for all of eternity.

I ran cork bar tape for years (double wrap) on my bike. That is, until I discovered ESI Silicone grips...

I use it. Works perfectly. No issues with slippage if you use the tape with adhesive backing.

I've run ESIs for years on many different bikes, and never had them move. Not once. There are reasons for not using ESI grips, but being concerned about them slipping isn't one.

Weight? Foam grips weigh 15g, Racer's ESI is 50g. Cheapest way to shave 35g.

I thought the whole point of white MTB parts was to see how dirty you could make them?
Speed solves all problems, except for those things it makes worse.
