Any ideas? New WW-ish Santa Cruz 650b build

    So far...

    Fox float RLC FIT
    Cane Creek 40 headset
XTR Shadow Plus rear derailleur, trail brakes, rear shifter
XTR crankset machined to 1x, brushed and clear Cerakoated
    Wolf Tooth 36t ring
    Syntace 760mm low riser
Thomson Elite stem (X2 road) and post
    Bontrager RXL saddle
Crest rims on I9 h torch hubs (pink!) with DT revolutions
    Kendall Karmas
    ESI grips

23.5 lbs with pedals on shop hanging Park scale.

Any ideas? Plan is for a Masterpiece 30.9 post and a Tioga Spyder Twintail saddle to shave ~200+ grams. Kinda stuck from there. Has to remain race-dependable and useful for training.

    Thanks for any input!

What type of brakes and rotors are you running? What type of cassette is on there? A lot of weight can hide in a heavy cassette

XTR 11-36 cassette. XTR trail brakes and ice-tech rotors.

After saddle and seatpost you will need to spend lots of cash to drop weight. 23lbs for a full suspended 27.5 is pretty dang good for something that is completely strong and reliable. I would start saving for some Chinese carbon rims or wheelset.

I agree, and that was my suspicion. I don't think the wheelset would be much (if any) savings over I9 Torch hubs (plus I do NOT like low engagement point hubs), Crest rims, and Revolution spokes.

Maybe tubular carbon wheels/tires for race day...

Those crest rims are just fine. Carbon will only drop 150 grams totall if that

That's crazy light, I'm happy with my size large Nickel 650b that's just under 26# lol.

Like others have said, brakes and cassette depending on what you have now.
Hardrock 29er, Niner EMD9, Cannondale F29, Camber Expert, 650b Nickel all gone.
    2014 Giant Anthem 27.5 here.

My carbon tubulars, my carbon ENVE clinchers, and the Crests I used to own, are miles apart in terms of ride quality and stiffness.

    DT 950Ts>ENVE>...Crest.

Tubulars have amazing ride quality, and they're on par with the ENVE clinchers for lateral stiffness.

My crests were noodles, and I'm only 145lbs.

It'll probably be the last item I'll do, but it's on the list (carbon tubulars).
