Alternative for CIRCUS MONKEY front hub ???

    Hello,

I was building a circus monkey, dt revo and ztr alpine rims. Unfortunately, circus monkey front hub, disc, black, 32, is not available on ebay. they are now selling a defective serie. I already bought two of them, and both are defective. More details here:

Now, My problem is that I already laced rear wheel, and, I already bought front spokes. Anyway, I already contected all ebay sellers of these hubs, 3 of them, and they say they only have the new model with these strange spoke holes. No old design anymore...

Then, I need an alternative hub. It's already too bad that front and rear hubs are gonna be a diferente brand... and also I may have to buy new spokes... Anyway. What alternative do you recommend? budged can be higher, but not too much. I can spend 100-110 on this. Circus monkey was less than 50...

    thanks a lot!!

I believe the holes are shaped like that so you can fit some big fat bladed spokes.

Would you mind sharing some more info about the two hubs you purchased? Who did you get them from and what did the sellers say?

As mentioned above, the drilling looks like it was done to allow for bladed spokes. I'm not sure why rubber seals are an issue unless the design is flawed. If you are unhappy with the hubs, I might buy one from you if the price is right.

Apparently this is the ew circus monkey front hub design. it's a bad design but apparently now all ebay sellers of circus monkey sell only this model, not the previous design. Also some people have laced them and they seem to work just right...

It'll probably work OK. Otherwise maybe try to get an A2Z or Rotaz front hub. You'll probably need new spokes. There's a couple of different A2Z types:

Fresh from the oven, i have build the exact CM hubs with the front slotted drilling. No problem, ZTR Alpine+DT Swiss Rev+Circus Monkey hubs= 1370gm w/o skewers

will update with some pic later..

    Cheers!
