Yup, the whole pass thing is a pain in the rear.

For State Parks and DNR land (for example St. Ed's and the upper lot at Tiger) you need the Discover Pass
For National Forest Land you need the Northwest Forest Pass (which works in both Washington and Oregon)
For Tokul Creek you need to buy a pass online from Hancock Forest Management

NWF Pass and State Parks passes only need to be visible in the car while you're parked, the Handoncock pass you need to keep with you while riding. I just printed mine at 25% size and used some clear packing tape to make it waterproof, it lives in the bottom of my Camelbak now.

FWIW I use the tape + dry erase marker on all my state passes that require a license #. Irritating enough that some did (Discovery)/do (SnowPark) limit it to one rig, but it got even more alarming when our little car was rear-ended by a semi and totalled right after we bought a Discovery pass.

State also a requirement that you get new plates every 7 years. (getting the same numbers cost 40 dollars per car since they are considered custom). Since both my cars hit the 7 years at the same day my 4month old yearly pass is now useless. I wish I had thought of the tape and dry erase marker.

You can have two cars on one pass now, just write both license numbers on the pass.
