    Tiger RR 11/3

We rode Tiger this morning and it is still in great shape. There are two trees down on the Summit trail and 1 tree down on Preston. None bigger than maybe 8".

The summit trail had a little mud and Preston had a few puddles but overall it is surprisingly good shape. Not sure how much long it will be open, but it it holding well!

What is the definitive source to reference for a trail closing date at Tiger? Evergreens page? DNR (Department of Natural Resources or Mountain bikers rejoice! New Tiger Mountain trail opens September 5 | Ear to the Ground

Also, if I just wanted to get some climbing in, and stay off the single track, I am assuming its ok to just ride the forest service roads right?

In the winter, when the snow levels allow a good workout is to ride out to poo-poo point and back and then climb to the east Tiger summit (or as far up as you can get) and back. Throw in the West Tiger summit if you are really feeling frisky.

I also rode tiger sunday, got up to east summit right at dusk and it was snowing pretty good up top!

The trails were in awesome shape though... it really shows how much rockwork has been done. So much so, I don't really see why seasonal closures are required, seems like it could be voluntary or at least based on current conditions.

    Maybe someday...

Keep going on the FS road that leads to the start of Iverson.

    Ahhh, ok, I see.

Does everyone start at the Tiger summit, or is there some parking and climbing starting lower on the Mountain?

If you want some BIG climbing, start at Taylor Mountain parking lot and climb those logging roads up to the top of 18, cross teh road and continue up the normal path at Tiger!

In the winter we try to do a big logging road loop atleast once a year, but we got snowed out the past two years and never made it to the crossover road that takes you to the bottom of Preston.

You can also start down by the Raging River on the east side and go up either Taylor Mountain on the south side of Highway 18 on the logging roads and cross over Highway 18 to the Tiger Summit lot or go up the power line on the north side up to somewhere near the summit parking lot.
