    Spring Lake RR

Spring Lake is looking good! Trail is tacky with only a few puddles after the bit of rain we had. It has also (finally) been brushed back, so no more bloody arms and legs. Also, there has been some trail work on the McGarvey connector trail.

Oh I didn't say it was a problem for me. I just hopped up on the railing and balanced it out!

Though now that you mention it we should get a video of someone one wheeling the McGarvey bridge. AWESOME!

Maybe this will keep the fat hikers off the trail??? LOL........

I had heard the from the county the week after I rode the trail that a new bridge was built. I will assume it was a WTA project?

The county has a lot of plans for the area. Suppose to be new trails in the McGarvey area too. They said once the old dead tree were cleared they were going to start planning. I tried to get Evergreen involved but Im not sure what is going on now.

Sicks that new bridge isnt biker friendly. Infact of a few of the newer bridges seem to cater only to hikers even though the area is suppose to be open to bikers/hikers and horses.

I've got a theory about the bridge. McGarvey has a big problem with motorcycles and atvs but they have never ben able to cross over into spring lake because of the waterway. Keeping the bridge narrow would also keep the orvs out. Worth walking (or wheelieing) in my opinion.

    Re: Spring Lake RR

    EDIT!

The trails have not ben completely brushed, only about half. I was told the entire system was done but after riding there today discovered otherwise. Also, finishing touches have ben added to the new bridge. There goes the opportunity for impromptu trials biking...

I made contact with the King County crew. The new bridge was made initially with railings that are narrow. The reason is to keep the motos out. Apparently, there is a rogue group of moto riders that feel it is their right to ride there and have been very rude to the county guys when they have been confronted. They were even using the old bridge in the past so that is why the new bridge is located as it is. The county understands that mountain bike riders will need to walk across the bridge but that is just the situation for now.

    Work on your wheelies.

Fairwood, about 10 minutes from the Tapeworm area. We are actually riding there Wednesday night at 7:30pm. If anyone wants a tour of the area let me know! We have a 10 mile loop that is a lot of fun. Its mostly smooth fast singletrack thru dense forest. Lots of elevation change and some fun climbs and descents.

Definitely worth a try. Still very brushy though, would recommend waiting until it has been cleared. Not much fun descending through a wall of salmon berry and nettles.

Damn, maybe I will change the location of tomorrow's ride.

On another note the tapeworm and silkworm are pretty much clear!
