    Soaring Eagle Changes and Re-Routes?

Looks like someone re-routed a couple trails down towards the SW corner of Soaring Eagle. They closed some and moved others. Any clue what the deal is? There used to be a nice connection between that area and up through to the upper parking lot but now you gotta boogie around. Also, making new trail while dry made for a fun sand pit type ride.

Since Tokul is closed I went there last evening for the first time in a couple years and had a great time. I'd forgotten how much fun the riding can be in there. I tried to follow an older trail in the area you are referencing, but it became obvious it was decommissioned so I back tracked. Only saw one other rider the whole time I was out there. Got to take some reading glasses with me next time. When the light dims closer to sunset, I can't get my eyes to focus on the maps.

Yes. It appears the City of Sammamish or King County is preparing to "do something" with the lower 30 acres. I need to get in touch with someone who knows for sure, but they've expressed a diehard desire to put a soccer field in there for the last several years, and they managed to acquire the southern 30 acres from King County.

I'll try to post here with more information when I get it, but if somebody beats me to it, please let me know.

Edit: the City claims the County did it, but the folks in the County I spoke with didn't know anything about it. Will update when I get a solid answer.

That would probably explain why the trail intersection numbers have been re-laid out so that some of them are now different.

Losing "Princess Trail" and the western part of "Blue Jay Way" are no great loss most of the year anyway, since they are generally too wet to ride (conscientiously anyway) about nine months of the year. Last year was a bit of an anomaly as it took about four weeks of rain in October to make them too wet to ride.

Where it bites is using the main parking lot of Soaring Eagle to base rides out to Duthie and Grand Ridge. I have generally used the southwestern exit between the main Trossachs road and Beaver Lake since you could avoid most of the wet/muddy/boggy trails by using the west side/golf course trails pretty easily.

My wife and I rode out there for the first time last weekend and had a great time on those trails. They were great for different ability riders as you could go as fast or slow on them and it didn't really seem to matter much. Sad to hear that space is being lost.

I hope this isn't true, the loss of any trail is a bad trend.

Iron Gate, (the private property Northern end trail) has also been blocked off at #4 and #10. No longer showing on the King Co. maps either. On the plus side is that all trails are in great shape now. Been enjoying some nice quiet and peaceful riding out there. SO peaceful and empty with Duthie so close. Watch out for the bear and horse sh!!!t though.

I prefer to try and practice my bunny hops over the turds when possible. I will dismount if I have to as not to widen the trail, even rake off the poop if a nice wide fallen branch is handy. The ride arounds and horse hoof print holes will become nice mud pits when the rain comes.....
