Snoqualmie Corridor Recreation Planning starting in January

Heads up that DNR is going to be starting a recreation planning process for the lands they are calling the Snoqualmie Corridor. This will be a great opportunity for public comment and involvement for areas such as Tiger Mtn, Raging River, Middle Fork Snoq, Mid Fork Snoq, Mitchell Hill, and others. There will be a kick-off and public meeting on January 18, 7-9PM location TBD. There will also be a SCRP Advisory Committee and Evergreen will have a seat at that table. Note that this isnt a complete rewrite of existing forest plans so it is NOT starting with a blank slate!

The DNR planning website has some draft maps which show the regions that are under review.

Please sign up on the Evergreen calendar so we can contact people that plan on attending.

Looks like the $2.74 is keeping the lights on enough to keep this moving forward. Good to hear it, as this is really promising. Hopefully enough people bought enough Discovery Passes where we won't have to have the meeting in the Tiger parking lot.

In all seriousness, this is pretty big, i hope people turnout and i hope a wave of heroes emerge and work to provide promising opportunities for mt. biking. Wonderful we secured a seat, which enables us at the very least our voice can be reasonably considered moving forward.

Yeah I would appreciate an update on this. Given the forecast, postponing seems realistic...

We just got word from DNR that the open house has been rescheduled for sometime in early February. Glenn will get the word out once we know the new time and place.

UPDATE - Rescheduled for Wed, Feb 1st

This is the rescheduling of the cancelled Jan 18th Open House.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites you to an open house to learn about a new recreation planning process for 53,000 acres of DNR-managed lands in the Snoqualmie Corridor in eastern King County. The goal of this effort is to develop a comprehensive plan for sustainably managing recreation in the Snoqualmie Corridor for the next 15 years while preserving working forests and special areas set aside for their conservation value.

    Wednesday, February 1st, 7 to 9 p.m.
    Snoqualmie Middle School, Commons Room
9200 Railroad Ave SE Snoqualmie, WA 98065
    Google Maps

    More info from DNR letter

There will also be a SCRP Advisory Committee forming and Evergreen will have a seat at that table

More information will be provided as we get it.
