    Skookum/White River RR

Sunday a group of 6 of us rode up Skookum to Buck creek, then crossed over to White River, rode it down to the intersection with Palisades, then rode the route in reverse. A light rain fell most the day but mud was very minimal and there wasn't a single downed tree blocking the trails. Nice work by those who keep the trails clear!

Trail conditions were nearly ideal and bugs were very minimal. It's a perfect time to get out and enjoy the area! The out and back route was did was just under 18 miles and took about 2.5 hours with lots of stops to check out the scenery! Since it is still early the falls and all the rivers were quite impressive. Much better than what you see in the middle of summer.

Nice! So what did you think of Skookum "up" versus "down"??? Preference?

I've actually rode "up" skookum a lot more than down it. We always ride it on the way to Ranger or Corral Pass.
I really enjoy it on the way up. It has a lot of fun technical parts are that are a nice challenge. I think there was only 1 spot I walked, and that was at the staircase type spot. It was too wet and slick to attempt. Didnt want to get hurt early into the ride!

White River had some fun spots, but was nowhere near as interesting as Skookum. Was still worth it though! In a few weeks we will probably to the Skookum/Ranger/Palisades loop if it is clear. It's one of my favorite loops around!
