Road to Devil's Gulch open again
from Wenatchee World
You still cannot shuttle up the dirt road since the road from the Peavine Junction to Beehive is still closed. Gotta drive around through Wenatchee...or just ride up the trail/road. Haven't been a lot of motos out there this year so the trail is in fantastic shape.
CASHMERE — After being closed for a year, Mission Creek Road, or Forest Road No. 7100, is reopened to motor vehicles.
The road seven miles south of Cashmere closed since last September due to the hazard of flash flooding after the Peavine and Poison wildfires burned much of the vegetation in the watershed.
The reopening makes the Devils Gulch Trailhead and the tie road with Peavine/No. 2 Canyon Road now accessible to vehicles. The road from the Peavine Road intersection up to the Beehive area remains closed to vehicles due to previous flood damage.
To reopen the road, the Wenatchee River Ranger District installed numerous water drainage dips, and laid gravel to strengthen the road in case of flooding. New vegetation is also growing in the watershed, and the chance of thunderstorms has decreased.
The road had remained open to non-motorized traffic because without a motor, people could hear an approaching mudslide from a severe storm, the U.S. Forest Service said in a news release.
